More than 90% of retailer owned equipment is now chip and PIN capable and any
new systems submitted for Streamline approval must now be capable of chip and PIN.
NB. By 1st January 2010 ALL terminals must be chip and PIN capable and the option
to accept magnetic stripe only and the fraud associated with it will be removed.
If you are still to adopt chip and PIN the following documents give advice on how to proceed.

Once you have agreed on your choice of solution, your equipment will need to be tested by Streamline before
you can implement the solution across your retail outlets.
If you have not implemented a live chip and PIN solution before the Liability Shift which was on 1st January 2005
you are liable for any fraud that occurs which could have been prevented had you been able to accept chip and PIN
transactions. See the Liability Shift
section for further information.
